Janesville Entrepreneur Propels Aviation Business to New Heights
Whatever your mission, we’ll get you ready!

That’s the motto of a successful Janesville customization and repair business Helicopter Specialties Inc., recently named Aviation Business of the Year by the Wisconsin Aviation Trade Association. This award-winning business got its start in 1999 when entrepreneur Jim Freeman decided to turn his part-time business into a full-time operation and turned to the UW-Whitewater SBDC for assistance. Kinex Medical Company Adjusts to Rapid Growth

Inventor Brings Cutting Edge Sensor Technology to Market
Pewaukee inventor and entrepreneur Kurt Brandt has successfully brought two of his innovations to market with the help of the SBDC and other Wisconsin Entrepreneurs' Network (WEN) partners. His ArgusNet sensor which could be used to detect exposure to radiation and toxins has attracted the attention of the Department of Homeland Security, and Brandt's Abiolux non-invasive container inspection technology has received millions in funding from the U.S. Department of Defense. “The contribution from SBDC, it’s director, staff and student help have been key elements driving the success of our company” Kurt Brandt 2007. Opportunity to Profit Seized
Roy Magsamen had been repairing small engines for nearly 20 years when he decided that he wanted to move his engine repair workshop out of his home and launch a full scale business. Before leaving a position as service manager for an auto retailer, Magsamen wanted some assurance that he could make a profit in his new business.
